Left at the Altar

Story of Hope and Healing for Every Woman Who Has Felt the Heartbreak of Rejection

                                                                                                                     -Kimberly Kennedy

Kennedy has it full of interesting events. Left at the alter defines the hopes of a woman regarding marriage and her man of dreams.

The author in real life, is a TV journalist,  who suffered the humiliation of being left at the alter. A wedding is supposed to be the most beautiful day of a woman’s life. But what Kennedy got to see was not perhaps one of the most memorable times.

One might be expecting this book to be full of upsetting events and how the author cries out the remorse of her unfortunate day. This book in fact, does not carry any of that. It would come full of surprises to you if you are expecting it to be boring. Frank and funny, Kennedy recounts the feelings and unfulfilled desires of getting married. The brave author shares every bit of her personal memo as she faces devastation when she was expecting felicitousness.

Her hope and aspirations of finding her Mr. Right displays her strength to continue life with zest.

Kimberly’s book also includes the such stories of many more women who were left at the alter. Her faith taught me to never define oneself with the rejection one faces. Her courage sets an example for millions out there who lose heart at petty issues.

Apart from the above topics, it also includes the perceptives of men who have rejected women before at the alter.

The book teaches faith and courage. It gave out a lot of things to be learnt from.

I would easily recommend this book to all whoever is reading this blog right now. You would find it on Amazon.com for $ 9.66.

What's He REALLY Thinking? - Paula Rinehart

This is my favorite reads of all from Thomas Nelson books.
This book opens up the deepest of men. It peeks into the basic psychology of the male species. Their mind has been of a debatable topic since eras. Their decision making skills seem weird to women from all over the world. The key issues this book covers are the following:
* how men think
* why they do what they do
* what they struggle with

This is one of the Valentine’s Day special books I got to choose from, from the various books Thomas Nelson offered me. I had been waiting for this one for weeks. Hands down, it was worth it!
I have passed on the book to one of my best friends who immediately grabbed the book at the very sight of it. The book has an elegant cover page and its content is even  more interesting. Hope you get a copy soon!
You can find the book online on Amazon.com for $5.85 only.

Same Kind Of Different As Me: By Denver Moore and Ron Hall

A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together

Honestly, before reading it, I thought this book would really bore (judging by its cover!). Yes indeed, it was too preachy and pushy on the terms of religion. It is definitely ideal for the folks who are into the concept of God and religion.
The modern day slave here is, Denver, who was brought up under plantation style slavery in Louisiana during the 1960’s. He escapes, and later in the story meets the unlikely woman, “Deborah”. Deborah is a true believer in God. Her husband, Ron, works as an art dealer. After the three meet, the rest of the story should be left to be discovered by you.
As I have already mentioned above, I am not very excited at look of preachy books, but for some, this one may be the one. So if I have to pass it on to somebody, it might just be the Church!

This book draws concentric circles around the single most important parenting tool. I am sure most of you would have been able to guess it by now. Yes I am talking about reliving the love between you two. Soon after marriage, as kids come up, there is void in the place of the love which needs to be filled up.

The authors of this book, Dr. Gary Smalley and Ted Cunningham, talk about the above issues and try to resolve the issues of the aforementioned void between married coupl51pCBIJDCJL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA300_SH20_OU01_es with kids.

This book comes under the genre of love/marriage/romance. I was offered a complementary copy of this book by its publishers : Tyndale House publishers.

Being a teen, the context of the book was beyond my level of understanding as to how marriage works and especially after kids come along. So I would not rate this book very high on my list but I could refer it to  my married folks to make use of it.

Cut your Grocery Bill in Half with America’s cheapest family

Steve and Annette, the authors of this boon for the middle class, have changed some of their shopping techniques. The alternations have been made keeping savings and health in mind.
Neither do they pay enormous bags of money for their monthly groceries, nor do they save fortunes spending on cheap grocery which could cut back on your health too along with its cost.

The couple has successfully come up with wonderful ideas and has an organised the whole procedure of shopping for the groceries. Be it meat, dairy or veggies, the rule is :
NO COMPROMISE ON HEALTH.
In this book, a family of seven survives on the monthly expenditure of $350, that too not miserably. Following the rules of this book, an average family can save up to more than $3000 an year. Also the rules are not extraordinary. They are easy to cope with.
Though to me this book was given complementary by Thomas nelson, you can make the purchase from www.amazon.com for $11.55.

The Butterfly Effect

This lovely piece has been “literally” carved by the much appreciated author of the book “The Boy Who Changed The World”, Andy Andrews.

The concept of the this book is somehow similar to that of the above mentioned book, “The Boy Who Changed The World” that is on large : how the smallest of actions lead to bigger things.
This one can be kept for a gifting purpose, knowing the beauty of the wonderfully written book.
The language is easy to understand and has been written in a manner kids can understand.
A complimentary copy of this book was provided to me by Thomas Nelson. I express my gratitude towards him for the favour.
I would surely recommend at least one read of the book.
You can buy the book from www.amazon.com for $10.17.
